Default Guild Halls (What are they good for?)

I searched the forums, even googled "guild halls site:guildwarsguru.com" and "guild halls site:guildwars.com".

I now HOW to get a guild hall, I'm just wondering WHY I should? What I'm really hoping is to have features like a guild storeroom and treasury, so you can donate items and gold. It would also be cool to have a more elaborate messaging system (like a message board) for guild members. There are tons of other things that would be great (I actually found a couple suggestion posts for guild halls).

So, what do you get?

Yea, annoying isnt it when you dont even get a response.. understandable though, what with everyone playing the game and then everyone posting tons and tons of (legitimate) threads simply because its a new game.

I dont know the complete answer to your question, but from what I have heard its a place where your guild members meet up.

at the moment Devils Scorpians dont have a guild hall so we all agree that when we arnt doing much, or want to meet up, district 5 is our default district at Ascalon city.

So rather than have to constantly say "which district are you in?" (fed up with saying that now) we all jump to 5 regardless.

When we get a guild hall, we would simply go there.. now, whats inside that guild or what it looks like I dont know. or if there are any other things you can do inside like DM I dont know.

But I dont wanna know at the moment, we are working toward getting one and it will be a suprise when we do..an adventure

So many questions are being posted so fast little things like this get pushed back but anyway to answer your question.

Guild Halls allow you to do Guild vs. Guild combat you fight with another guild in your guild hall. This is the only way to get onto the ranking page. The guild vs. guild combat consists of two teams trying to capture a flag in the center which give the team who owns it for 2 minutes a +10% bonus. Every two minutes anyone who is dead respawns in their respective fort you keep doing this until either you reach 60% death penelty at which point you dont spawn or the enemy takes out your guild lord or you take out theirs. Guild lords are located in the forts defended by NPC's. Some maps have catuplts on them that can fire into each of the forts if you get the (cant think of what its called) lever? and arm the catuplt you can fire on your enemy as they come out of the fort if they use the front entrance (all forts have back entrances also). To get in a fort you take your guild thief (who is next to your guild lord) and move them to the lever at the enemies gate. I would suggest leaving the guild theif at the lever when you enter so that people who respawn can get in without someone having to open the door. finaly if the battle last something like 45 min victory or death occurs and i really dont know what this is never experienced it but i believe everyone rushes twords the enemies guild lord??

its alot of fun im not good at explaining things hopefully you understand and hopefully i didn'tforget anything. ill try to post again if you have questions but you know how crazy these forums have been

edit: you can preview the guild halls by going to the docks in lions arch and talking to the guy... i dont know his name but hes hard to miss.

also i have a question i was wondering if you can repick your guild hall if anyone happens through here that knows the answer.

So the only thing you get is the ability to do GvG fights? There is no other functionality? I mean, I guess it's kinda cool, but it would be really nice to have some other good features enabled in the hall (like I mentioned above).

Yes Draken, nice explanation. I didn't know that the Guild Thief opened the door, lol. We just got finished with a battle that lasted about 30 minutes. Pretty interesting stuff. While the other 7 were at the front gate, I decided to scope out the back gate.

When I got there, 2 of their warriors were coming out so I turned around quick. I went back to 3 of our NPC henchies and set up a Spike Trap. The warriors didn't like that. Next was Throw Dirt. More anger, I could feel it. I ended up killing them both...yeah, me, a lowly Ranger.

I'm not gonna type up the rest of it, but it was extremely fun and it adds yet another dimension to a great game. Thank you Anet! And thank you Order of Glint for our first GvG that we didn't get our butts handed to us! You guys put up a great fight.

It would be really handy if the guild hall had a storage agent in it.
